Strathan Culture

Although the Strathan Nation was founded as a political experiment, over the time it has been established it has developed its own distinct culture and values. Strathy is home to a number of sports and athletes, languages, political philosophies, professions, arts, and stories.

The Strathan People have long been interested in the arts, with artists, writers and musicians hailing from the tiny nation of Strathy. Music is, however, the biggest of the arts in Strathy with roughly 85% of the population playing a musical instrument, composing or teaching. Art, drama and writing do get a look in as well, with The Strathan Arts Council supporting all of them.

The Strathan people have also developed a â€‹keen interest in politics, with many Strathan people debating left and right wing theories on a daily basis. Much of the nation is dominated by left-wing politics, however, with roughly 80% of the population declaring to be of a left-wing persuasion. With ideologies ranging from Anarcho-Communism to liberal Conservatism, Strathy's political landscape is a truly varied affair.

Traditionally, sport has also played a key role in Strathan life, many citizens take up a sport of some description, with people playing sports such as rugby, shooting, hockey, curling, running and swimming.

Socially, Strathy is quite a mixed place, with citizens claiming, British, Scottish and English heritages. However, much of the country is influenced by it's Scottish Heritage. The three official languages of Strathy are English, Scots and Gáidhlig. Every year, Burns night is celebrated, with a traditional Burns supper of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, and the recital of Burns' poetry and songs. Strathans are also lovers of other aspects of Scottish culture, namely the music and the ceilidh dancing.  However, Strathy also has elements of British culture too, with a number of citizens admiring the Queen of Britain, the second national drink, after Whisky, is tea.

Strathy also has its own distinct culture of self reliance, growing vegetables and farming hens. The people of Strathy, it is fair to say, are quite the mixed cultural bag, but it's something they are certainly proud of.
