The Judiciary of Strathy is made up of The Supreme Court of The Strathan Republics and the various Republic Courts throughout the state. The job of the Judiciary is to do two things; first and foremost it's job is to interpret the law in the name of The State, providing legal rulings on matters resolvable only by the highest forms of State law. It also provided assistance to the Republic Courts and other bodies.

It's second job is to resolve any disputes as to the legality of any law or bill going through any section of the Strathan Government. It has the power to enact and repeal laws that do not fit in with those higher up, for example Republic laws that contradict State law or State law contradicting international law. It is also responsible for ensuring that all legislation to be passed fits into the constitution of the state.



The Supreme Court of The Strathan Republics is controlled by a council of judges, each one The Chief Justice of their republic, currently it is a council of three. At the head of this council is a member who is not attached to any republic, The High Chief Justice of The Strathan Republics. This person is elected during the national elections by The Department for Justice. As such, he or she will sit in on meetings of The Commissariat.



Every piece of legislation passed must bear the signature of The High Chief Justice of The Strathan Republics in addition to those of The People's Commissar and The Vice-People's Commissar.
